The STIHL KMA 80 R is the first battery-powered KombiMotor in the AK System, designed for home gardeners who want professional versatility without the noise and complexity of petrol. Powered by a 36V lithium-ion battery, it connects to the full range of STIHL KombiTool attachments – prune, trim, mow, clear, or cut, all from a single power unit. Attachment changes are straightforward: insert the tool into the shaft, tighten, and you’re ready to work. Note: not compatible with the FSB-KM attachment.
The 36V brushless EC motor delivers reliable, efficient performance across a full range of garden tasks. It runs quietly – well suited to residential use – with no petrol fumes, minimal vibration, and significantly reduced noise compared to petrol equivalents.
Power is adjusted via a two-speed control on the handle. ECO mode (Level 1) is ideal for lighter tasks like lawn edging and extends battery runtime for longer sessions. Full Speed mode (Level 2) delivers maximum power for more demanding work such as leaf clearing and thick vegetation. Infinitely variable speed control is also available depending on the KombiTool attached.
The ergonomic loop handle adjusts in height to suit your working position, reducing fatigue and improving control on slopes, around obstacles, and across uneven ground. The KMA 80 R is compatible with the full range of STIHL AK batteries – the AK 30 offers the longest runtime, while lighter options such as the AK 10 or AK 20 can improve balance during prolonged use, for example when hedge trimming. Working times vary by KombiTool attachment.
