Professional cordless pruner for ground and aerial tree care
The GTA 40 is STIHL's first dedicated battery-powered pruner for professional use. Designed for tree and shrub care, professional horticulture and landscaping, processing wood on construction sites, and working in tree canopies or on crown reduction tasks.
Please note: This model is available as a set with battery and charger, or as a tool only. Please select the correct option when adding to basket.
Powered by the AS System
Part of the STIHL AS System, the GTA 40 uses two AS 2 lithium-ion batteries discharged in parallel (both batteries required for operation). Working time is 50 minutes or up to 240 cuts in 5 cm branches. The charge level indicator is conveniently located on top of the tool for easy reading.
Professional cutting performance
The powerful EC motor and ¼" PM3 saw chain enable clean, precise cutting. Variable chain speed allows full control of cutting speed during use. Automatic chain lubrication and side-mounted chain tensioning via the sprocket cover ensure smooth operation. The tool-free chain oil tank has sufficient volume for use with 6x AS 2 batteries.
Designed for professional use
Soft rubberised handle and upper grip help prevent slipping during use. The claw-shaped deflector at the top separates the upper grip area from the cutting attachment for added safety. Designed for two-handed operation and suitable for both right and left-handed users thanks to rockers on both sides of the tool.
Versatile and weather-resistant
An attachment ring lets you hook the tool on a belt for easy access whether working in the air or on the ground. A GTA 40 holster is available separately for quick access during work. IPX4 protection class certification means the GTA 40 and AS 2 batteries can be used in adverse weather conditions and are splashproof.
Complete set includes:
1 x 15 cm (6") light guide bar
1 x Picco Micro 3 (PM3) ¼" P, 1.1 mm, 38 drive links, 15 cm (6") saw chain

*The GTA 40 can be used by all users on the ground, but is only certified for aerial use by trained arborists.
