The Mountfield 1538M-SD is a side-discharge ride-on lawn mower built for larger gardens and lawns up to 2 acres. Powered by a STIGA ST400 414cc single-cylinder engine with manual transmission – 5 forward gears and 1 reverse – it delivers reliable, consistent performance across a wide range of conditions.
The 98cm twin-blade deck covers ground efficiently, with 7 cutting height positions ranging from 25–80mm giving precise control over the finish. Side discharge is the primary cutting method, making it well suited to longer or denser grass. A mulch plate is included if you prefer to return clippings to the lawn as a natural fertiliser.
Deck cleaning is straightforward: connect a hose to the deck nozzle, turn on the water, and engage the blades. A mulch plate and towing hitch are included as standard. Battery charger is available separately. Backed by a 5-year extended manufacturer’s warranty (T&Cs apply).
