The Mountfield 1538H-SD is a hydrostatic side-discharge garden tractor built for larger gardens up to 2 acres. Powered by a STIGA ST 450 single-cylinder petrol engine producing 7.5kW at 2800rpm, it combines strong performance with the ease of hydrostatic transmission – simply press the foot pedal to control speed and direction, with no gear changes required.
The 98cm twin-blade cutting deck covers ground efficiently, discharging clippings to the side through the side-discharge chute – well suited to longer or denser grass. A mulching plate is included if you prefer to return finely chopped clippings to the lawn as a natural fertiliser. The compact design also makes storage more straightforward compared to larger collecting ride-ons.
Deck cleaning is simple: connect a hose to the deck nozzle, turn on the water, and engage the blades. A tow hitch is included as standard, with a range of towed accessories available separately for year-round use. Backed by a 5-year extended warranty (T&Cs apply).
